it's not too often that i rave about a film. i usually find myself easily entertained and not often disappointed, but rarely impressed. that being said, i really, really enjoyed the movie ondine (2009). it has to be one of the most visually beautiful films i've seen this year. i'm not sure whether it was actually filmed in ireland or not, but the setting is absolutely stunning. the plot is enjoyable if you're willing to accept it for what it is (a film about a fisherman finding a woman he believes to be a water nymph in his net,) and the writing is ok, although somewhat abrupt at pivotal plot points, but the scenery, cinematography and performances make it a film definitely worth seeing. colin farrell seems very at home in the role of the syracus, the provincial fisherman and recovering alcoholic, but alicja bachleda really breathes magic into the film as ondine (and makes a trench coat and fishing boots look good while at it.)
coconut oil, so hot right now. use it as a healthy and flavorful alternative in a veggie or seafood stir fry, an edible lip exfoliant (when mixed equal parts with sugar,) and an aromatic facial moisturizer (apply sparingly to dry areas and allow about 15 minutes to absorb). delicious tasting and smelling, and leaves skin feeling smooth and lush!
the beach is almost even more beautiful when the water looks freezing cold. love the look of this shoot- leaves me craving some shearling to cozy my denim up with. wonder if this could be a DIY project for my next week…
excited to have some time to get back to doing the things i love like writing and sewing. looking to fancy up some of my denim tops with popping print collars and pocket patches and hopefully do some freelance editorial writing around the city. weeee!
absolutely obsessed with zara's "dear america" photo campaign. 50 photographers, one from each state, participated in this photo collection in celebration of the launch of zara's u.s. online store. so impressed with the coherency throughout the collection despite the different style's of the photographers, the various settings and even seasonal changes.
