lesson of the day.

I'm all over this warmer weather. Despite the fact that I have absolutely no destination for spring break, I've been shopping online as if I was getting resort ready. I'm not worried-tanning beds and drink umbrellas bring the tropics anywhere. For those more fortunate, here's a little trick for you to turn you're favorite scarf into a stylish top-definately lightens up the luggage load for vacation.

The scarf top
You'll need-
A square silk scarf (32'' by 32'') Echo and Cochni are my favorite brands
& Emilio Pucci has amazing prints if you can spring for them.
A pearl or chain necklace

Lay the scarf flat on a surface. Take the opposite corners of the scarf, and bring one to meet the other (you will now have a triangle.) Find the center of the necklace you chose, and take the two corners of the scarf, tying a tiny knot around the necklace (one end goes over the necklace, one goes under. If you chose a chain necklace, poke one end through the chain to tie to the other end rather than going around the entire chain.) The scarf should still be in the shape of a triangle, only tied to the center of the necklace now. Next, fasten the necklace around your neck. There should be two corners of the scarf dangling by your sides. You are going to take the two corners and bring them behind your back, tying them together right at the small of your back. Adjust the front so that the knot is not showing, and you may want to put some double sided tape along the sides of the front to ensure you don't have any untimely wardrobe malfunctions. Above is an example of the finished product, along with a blue leopard print Echo scarf I just ordered.
You owe me one.

you. see. right. through. me.

God I'm loving me some Nicki Minaj lately. If you don't already have them, download right through me and girls fall like dominoes pronto. You've got to admire her prowess in underhandedly slipping crude words into heartfelt sounding ballads. Moving on, very excited to be interviewing singer, songwriter and actress Mya at the end of this week-preparing my questions and practicing taking myself seriously. Will post a link to the published piece sometime next week. Still interviewing for jobs and looking into housing options for post-graduation. This is actually the first weekend I've been home in D.C. for a weekend in months, as I've been living at the Dunkin Donuts in the airport since winter break. In fact I've officially filed to have my mail forwarded there, since there's a far better chance I'll be found there then home lately. Tried to take advantage of being stationary for once last night and saw some Oscar nominated short films at the new cinema on M st. which conveniently has a liquor license and beer on tap. After this educational experience I proceeded to initiate a game of "spin the dance bottle" at Mighty Pint, and devour no less than twenty McNuggets (but honestly they're bitesize, so who's counting.)

Day trip to NYC tomorrow to meet with Member's Only, then hittin' the slopes back in the District. And by slopes I mean the ice luge at the Donovan House Hotel rooftop ice-bar. Just the excuse I need to break out my full-length fur and drink like I've got Russian blood in me. Already scoped the drink menu which includes drunken cocoa and the Morello Fire (chili infused vodka, cherry puree and sake). I'm all over it.

wild hearts can't be broken

Been phatoming lately on account of my new internship, even more interviews, traveling, and limited computer life due to the mysterious disappearance of my charger. Very excited to now be writing editorials on fashion, food and music for Washington Life magazine. My first assignment was an album release party for U.S. Royalty, and I'm angling to write my next piece on a vodka tasting on the Donovan Hotel rooftop ice-bar (mama always said to write about what you know.) I'm also interviewing for a Member's Only fashion PR internship this Friday in NYC…so fingers crossed extra tight for that. Every weekend in the foreseeable future includes busses, planes, trains and ..even toboggans, so with my traveler's luck, (or lack thereof) there will be some interesting stories coming your way.

p.s. My house no longer resembles an underwater scene for the Life Aquatic, but it's been two weeks and my dishwasher still isn't fixed. Merde.
